velvet&wood.

first off, happy 2nd birthday to my little boy! here's an acronym for him:
charming
affectionate
rascal
loving
obvious
sparring
my daughters and i thought of it and it describes him well. we used 'obvious' because you can always tell when he's up to something and 'sparring' because he loves boxing/fighting and he's always trying to spar with people. we celebrated a little today and i'll share some photos in an edit probably tomorrow.

anyway, here is a super old velvet blazer i got at urban outfitters a while ago. i never got to wear this tank top much this summer. it has a nice wood grain print i thought went so well with velvet. these jeans together with this blazer make a perfect and classic silhouette.

a happy kind of blue.

i’ve had this dress for about 3 years now. my favorite thing about it is its curved hem. second would be its color which actually turned out a little brighter in the pictures than in person. it’s a more navy blue which i love with brown and gold accessories. also thought my new more structured hat i got yesterday would be perfect with this flowy and kind of drapey dress rather than my more floppy one.

i think i’m going to wear these shorts and tights everyday this fall. if not then every other day. this kimono/bed jacket is one of my favorite items in my closet. i love that it’s a year round piece perfect with my new obsession, fitted ballet tops that have to be tucked in. kind of like a bodysuit. these jc attics were stored waaay at the bottom of my tower of shoe boxes. almost forgot about them. they look so cute with blazers and hats. speaking of which, i went thrifting today and found a green tweed blazer and a hat similar to this but with a smaller brim. and don't worry, the hat and blazer were brand new...they had the brand tags on and everything!

up up and away.

i have that kid cudi song stuck in my head and thought it was appropriate for this post. i put my hair up today because it was windy and it didn’t really make a difference anyway because i left my bangs down and i could not get them off of my face! my bangs were covering my face in the pics i took where i was actually looking at the camera and it looked awkward so i chose these where i'm looking down. sometimes it's hard to 'edit' because it's always one thing that messes up the whole pic.

anyway, this is the shirt i posted two posts ago that was only $10 at forever21. i thought it was a steal when i saw it online but there’s more to it. it has epaulets on the sleeves so they can be rolled up and there’s a shirred seam on the back at the waist so it has more shape…it’s so pretty! and have any of you tried these spin pins?? they are the greatest! i have them in my bun and i love that you can’t see anything holding it down.

wild.

my sister and i did a little shopping in the city today and i have to do some edits on my previous posts because some of the f21 things i posted did not look as great in person. anyway, after the city we went to oakland and had lunch at barney's. i had a burger and sweet potato fries. i went home and then left again to go to six flags with the family. we met up with my brother in law and his family. it was so much fun with them. it was also 'fright fest' so we stayed there a little later than usual.

it's been a very busy but exciting weekend so far. chictopia made me a style icon this month and i'm so thrilled about it! i wanted to thank everyone who commented, voted and added me as one of their favorites. i'm immensely flattered and i feel it's an honor to be among the super stylish and inspiring icons!!!

throw it in the bag.

i love browsing f21's 'new apparel' everyday...i admit that i check on their stuff twice a day. these are what i found in the last couple days...

my sweaters need to be updated to more chunky looser styles. and this color hits the spot.
*edit: knit looked different in person - wasn't for me...

this blue top has a curved hem, one of my weaknesses. it's very simple but would be perfect with purple lips and 70's disco hair!!

this black cardigan will replace one i wore with everything last year. a very easy piece.
*edit: if it were a little baggier i would have def got it...

and there's just no reason not to have this $10 blouse. the print is pretty and i need that maroon hat!!
*edit: loved it even more in person!!

it calls for leather.

phew! what a busy week. these leather shorts are what i need! and the weather is perfect for these too. anyway, this is our first free weekend in a while. my husband has it off and we don’t have any plans. i’m excited about that.
